Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 8, 2026

Spottr ("Spottr," "we," "us") provides an AI-assisted strength-training app: it builds and adapts your workout program, tracks what you log, and offers coaching. This policy explains what information we collect, why, who else sees it, and the choices you have about it.

Information we collect

We collect the information you give us directly, and what your use of the app generates:

  • Account information: name, email address, and profile photo, provided through our authentication provider (Clerk) when you sign up.
  • Training profile: your goal, experience level, available equipment, training days, weak points, and optionally height, weight, body fat percentage, and any injury or limitation notes you choose to enter.
  • Workout data: your generated programs and every session you log: exercises, sets, reps, weight, RIR, notes, and perceived effort.
  • Wellness and recovery check-ins: sleep quality, energy, stress, and muscle soreness you optionally report.
  • Progress photos: if you are a Pro member and choose to add them, front, side and back photos with the date you took them. We shrink each photo on your device and remove its embedded metadata, including location, before it is uploaded.
  • Coach messages: the conversation history if you use the AI coach chat.
  • Billing information: if you subscribe to Pro, our payment processor (Stripe) handles your card details directly; we never see or store your full card number. We store your subscription status and Stripe's customer/subscription identifiers.
  • Push notification tokens: if you enable notifications, a token used to deliver them to your device.
  • Feedback: anything you submit through the in-app feedback form.
  • Usage analytics: which screens you open and which features you use (for example starting or finishing a workout, generating a program, or viewing an upgrade screen), along with your device and browser type and an approximate location derived from your IP address. This is tied to an internal account ID, not your name or email. It never includes what you log or write: not your weights, body measurements, photos, notes, or coach messages.

We use analytics to understand how Spottr is used and to improve it. We do not use advertising trackers, we do not record your screen, and we do not sell your information to anyone.

How your information is used, and who else processes it

We use your information to run the app, and share only what each function needs with these processors:

  • OpenAI: to generate and adapt your program and power the AI coach, we send relevant parts of your training profile (goal, experience, equipment, weak points, height/weight/body fat if provided, and any injury notes you entered), your training history, and your coach chat messages. OpenAI processes this to return a response; see OpenAI's API data usage policy. API-submitted data is not used by OpenAI to train their models.
  • Clerk: handles sign-up, sign-in, and account security.
  • Stripe: handles billing and payment processing for Pro subscriptions.
  • PostHog: provides our product analytics (the usage events described above), hosted in the United States. Your browser sends these through Spottr's own servers, and the app stores a random identifier on your device (in local storage, not a cookie) to tell visits apart. If your browser sends a "Do Not Track" signal, the app doesn't send browser analytics from it. A few account events, such as signing up or subscribing, are also recorded from our servers and aren't affected by that signal.
  • Railway: hosts our application servers and database, and the private storage where progress photos are kept.

None of these processors are permitted to use your data for their own purposes beyond providing their service to us.

Progress photos are never sent to OpenAI or any other AI provider, and are never used to train models. They are stored in a private location that is not publicly accessible, and are only shown to you, in the app, while you are signed in. We do not share them with other users.

Not medical advice

Spottr, including anything generated or suggested by its AI coach, is for general fitness purposes only and is not medical advice. It does not diagnose, treat, or provide clinical guidance for injuries or health conditions. Talk to a doctor or physical therapist about any injury, pain, or health condition before starting or changing a training program, and stop if something hurts.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from Settings, which permanently deletes your profile, programs, workout history, progress photos, messages, and the usage analytics we hold about you. Deleting your account also cancels any active Pro subscription immediately, so you won't be billed again. Stripe may keep transaction records for the period required by tax and financial regulations. If you ever see a charge after deleting your account, contact us at the address below and we'll sort it out.

You can delete any individual progress photo at any time from the Body page, which removes the photo and its thumbnail from storage. If your Pro subscription ends, your existing photos are kept but hidden until you resubscribe, and you can still delete them.

To request a copy of your data, ask a question about this policy, or ask us to delete your data on your behalf, contact us at [email protected]. You can also ask us to stop collecting analytics about you at any time.

Security

We use industry-standard practices to protect your data, including encryption in transit and access controls on our database. No system is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

Children

Spottr is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date above and, for significant changes, notify you in the app.
